Baltic Pilotage

Finnpilot Pilotage provides licensed deep-sea pilot services and ice pilot services to vessels navigating to and from Finnish ports, as well as transiting the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Finland, the Bay of Bothnia, and the Sea of Bothnia.

Baltic Pilotage services are particularly valuable for ships unfamiliar with ice and winter conditions or for those seeking to reinforce their bridge team with local operational practices in these harsh and shallow navigational conditions.

Finnpilot has local licenced deep-sea pilots with years of experience operating vessels in ice conditions. Pilots work together in co-operation with Finnish icebreaker operations. They support and advise the vessel’s master in voyage planning, navigation, communication and execution of ship operations in ice and winter climate.

Pilots generally embark or disembark vessels at Finnish ports or at designated boarding locations (see table). However, alternative locations may be utilized when operationally required.
